HOW TO DIAGNOSE SCOLIOSIS
Early diagnosis of scoliosis is imperative for successful treatment. The principle is very simple and regular checks at home can save many years of pain.
From the age of 8 parents should look for any suggestion of asymmetry in their children. These may include:
  • uneven shoulders
  • prominent shoulder blade/s
  • uneven waist
  • uneven hips
  • leaning towards one side

Performing the bend test every three months, with the child bent over as in the illustration, can show a possible scoliosis very easily.

Should you feel that your child may have scoliosis, please visit your family doctor.
